Corten-steel Lobby and Donor Walls

We worked with Polshek Partnership Architects, supplying custom metal fabrication on this award-winning expansion of Cornell's medical facilities, designing and realizing the corten-steel entry lobby walls and donor walls for the entire 20-story building. The design idea was to make a strong statement in the material itself, while remaining tactile and welcoming. To contrast with the stainless steel-lettering that names each departmental lobby and honors the donors that made the new facility possible, we crafted a dark golden patina for the steel that gives off a warm, reddish luster from the wall panels themselves. All together, the project included ornamental metalwork for two entry lobbies and twelve floors of departmental lobbies, for a total of over 200 individual panels.
